Bright light near water is a reflection problem, not a brightness problem. Light that bounces off a flat surface comes back polarized in one plane, which is why a waterfront or a wet road throws a white sheen that a dark lens only makes duller, never clearer. The Bayside runs a polarizing filter that blocks that plane outright and a mirror coating on the outer face that sends a further share of the light back before it ever reaches the filter. What you get is contrast rather than dimness: the seam in the pavement, the pothole in the shade, the wheel in front of you. The full-rim TR90 carrier holds the lens under load without flex, and the silicone nose piece and temple grips hold their bite once you start sweating.
